It is a beautiful time of year. A time when we gather with our family and friends to feast on mounds of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, and pause to think about what we’re thankful for in life.
We take time out of our busy lives to slow down, eat a grand meal, and pause to be thankful for what we have – our family members who are there for us in good times and bad, or our friends who lend us an ear or make us smile.
In fact, we may even consciously make an effort to thank those people in our lives during the Thanksgiving holiday. “Thank you, mom, for doing such a great job of raising us.” “Thank you, friend, for making me laugh and enjoy each day.”
Wouldn’t it be great if we could make every day Thanksgiving (without the turkey, potatoes and stuffing, of course!)? Think about it. Why do we wait for an official holiday to tell people thanks for “Being There” for us, or “Making our day?”
So much like we make a New Year’s Resolution, let’s commit to making a Thanksgiving Day Resolution. “I hereby commit to making every day Thanksgiving, and will give thanks to the people in my life who help make it better.”
We don’t need a big meal, football on the TV, and a chill in the air to be thankful. All we need to do is Be There, and consciously thank the people in our lives every day.
