Tis’ the season to be jolly.
As we near the holidays, a time where we end up focusing on shopping for that perfect gift for our loved ones, it is easy to forget some simple truths of life. But it is also easy to remember those simple truths…it only requires a conscious thought.
While it may be fun to whip out our credit cards and hit the shopping malls to show our appreciation to our friends, co-workers and family members, it isn’t necessarily the most important way of giving someone the perfect gift.
One simple gift we can do is Make Their Day. Give them a compliment when you see them – “I love your new hairdo,” “That color looks great on you,” “I really appreciate you as a friend.”
It is no secret that as time passes, each holiday season seems to become more and more about the dollars spent. The evening news reports include updates about how retailers are doing, the stores are packed full of busy shoppers looking for the best deals, and online retailers are offering discounts for people who like to shop in their pajamas.
But again, the reason for the season is not just a material, consumer-driven one…but a time for us to give to those around us in little ways.
Create special memories with someone…take them out for a hot cup of coffee, bring them a homemade treat, leave them a hand-written note that leaves them with a smile.
So even for just a moment this holiday season, put down the credit card and put on a smile and find someone that means a lot to you, and Make Their Day!
