So I work retail. I am in a customer service specialist position. I still have leads and assistant managers and managers above me. However no one likes working were we work. I want to change that i want to implement Fish! I have al lof these ideas! For play, we work in a sporting goods environment so playing is easy but to make it productive we could have the manager on duty at two times during the day take a foot ball and pass it to each of the employees around the store and ask them a productive question of the day! This will keep them on their toes keep them educated on the products and let them play. For Choosing their attitude I love the smiley face idea with a poster from the book. But we would take it a bit further and put smiley pins in a bag some sad faces and some smiley faces and have each employee when they clock in put on the pin of their choice. TO be present in retail is quite easy. You just need to introduce yourself and get peoples name to show you care. Engage with others relate to others. Care about what they are looking for. Ask questions make sure you are getting everything they need. To ensure employees do this we could have a name board. Every time you get a name you write it on the board with a smiley face or a frown if the customer was satisfied or not. This also goes along with making someone’s day. I think they has a lot to do with our management team. It is like pay it forward if you make simple complement to someone or acknowledgement of an employee they will pass that on to the customers. A simple hey good job or you really have a lot of energy today goes along way. EVERYONE wants to be noticed! My problem is that this needs to be done starting with management and it needs to be a consistent process. It cannot just be just a once in a while thing. It is a full change. I dont know how to approach my supervisors about it. I thought about buying them all the book and having them read it and having a meeting about it. Courage or not..... I am sick of waiting for change. I need to initiate it.. oh buddy. Any ideas........
