Make a grouchy person's day

Posted on November 8, 2007 at 4:43pm 3 Comments

It's surprising how often FISH! is mentioned in people's blog posts. Marc Pitman has a weblog titled, The Extreme Fundraising Blog: Powerful, simple fundraising ideas you can put into practice today. His Make Their Day blog entry from a few week's ago included this idea:

Look at grouchy people as a challenge, even a game. It’s easier to…

Denny Flanagan, a pilot who makes the day for his passengers

Posted on November 6, 2007 at 3:08pm 2 Comments

Denny Flanagan is a pilot for United Airlines who's been a bit of a media sensation since August when he was profiled in a Wall St. Journal article titled To a United Pilot, The Friendly Skies Are a Point of Pride. He regularly goes out of his way to delight his passengers in amazing ways that no one has ever heard of before. Read…

A client's view of FISH! in a nutshell

Posted on October 30, 2007 at 2:41pm 0 Comments

I got this from Harry Geist, a colleague here at ChartHouse. It's an excerpt from an email exchange he had with a client earlier this year. "It is kind of powerful because it's so straight forward. Thought you would enjoy it." I did indeed and…

I wasn't there but my ChartHouse Learning colleagues took nearly 100 photos at the recent FISH! for Schools LIVE workshop in Seattle. I've put them all in a Picasweb photo album or you can view them in this…

Make Their Day with appreciation

Posted on October 16, 2007 at 4:43pm 3 Comments

The folks at Simple Truths have a new freebie web movie out called The Simple Truths of Appreciation: How Each of Us Can Choose to Make a Difference.

It's based on the true story of a guy who writes a thank-you letter to a teacher he had as a child. His appreciation not only 'made her day' but the rest of her life. I won't spoil it but there's an aspect of her reply that I think indicates some 'mistaken' beliefs on…

Hi Griff,

We are doing a big push for FISH at my office next year. I wanted to suggest this network to our entire company as a resource to carry on FISH! I think we would have several that would participate. What do you think?

Hi Griff! Just letting you know that the kids in LA9 have uploaded a vodcast for you to ask you a few questions. If you feel that answering them would be too much, could refer them to someone in education who would be able to communicate with us as well?? Thanks for getting involved with our class blog, the kids are excited to be getting message from across the other side of the world!! Cheers, Ben.

Hi,

I have not run across many Americans nor anyone who is using Fish. Would be interested if you know of someone.

Thank you for responding.

Hi Griff,
That was exactly what I was thinking. It may prove to be useless here but I think I could get something out of it! I could certainly use the practice anad the morale boost!
Thanks for your input!

Hi Griff,
Yes, I am a busy woman! I'm in a strange position with getting my own business started and working for a large company. I am hoping to move on from the company to run my business full time but I still need the security. I feel like the FISH philosophy would really work for my group, they are good people in a bad place. I guess what I am unsure about is.... do I want to expend the energy to FISH the place and then end up leaving!
