About Me:
Produce documentary films that inspire the human spirit: that’s the 50-year heritage of ChartHouse Learning, the official home of The FISH! Philosophy. Given those roots, our passion has never wavered: tell stories that change the world. Ray Christensen touched souls with his film “To Touch a Butterfly” about developmentally challenged children in 1981. His son, John Christensen, touched souls with his film “FISH!” in 1998.

And that’s where The FISH! Philosophy started — with one man’s passion behind a camera trying to tell an ordinary story of a rather extraordinary group of fishmongers.

As a parks and recreation department we hire well over 300 part-time and seasonal staff each year and…

Would You Like a Cookie With That?

Posted on September 27, 2011 at 3:30pm 1 Comment

My friend Bob once stopped at a fast-food restaurant and placed an order that came with a cookie. The server responded, “And would you like a cookie with that?” The next time Bob returned to the restaurant, he placed the same order, cookie included, with a different server. Again the server politely asked, “And would you like a cookie with that?”…

Why FISH! For Leaders?

Posted on August 29, 2011 at 3:00pm 1 Comment

One of the important takeaways for leaders from the FISH! For Leaders video series is that their employee’s mistakes can actually be opportunities to build relationships and trust. After Kathleen Flynn, a location Director for PSA Healthcare, attended a three-day FISH! For Leaders retreat, she shared the following story:

“Late afternoon last Friday my administrative secretary came into my office and said, “You are going to be so mad. I am so sorry, but I dropped the mail…
