Hey Alison, welcome to the Network.
See you've seen the Fish video, not read any of the books yet? I can highly recommend them, adds a whole new dimension to what you see happening at Pike Place. I read the original Fish book about 10 years…

Hi Rachael, welcome to the Network.
Just thought I'd stop by and say hey. Hope to learn more about you and how you've used Fish in your personal and/or professional life soon!
Take care,
Stu =)
Not been to Seattle yet but it's a goal of mine. I travel to Minnesota for training. I did the following at my old school. Had staff read the book around Xmas. Then I did something with them every month during 2nd semester. I had all of my…
Hi Gladys, hope you're keeping well.
I've come across this before too where organisations fail to fully get behind Fish and just treat it as as one-off event. I was amazed when I started working for one particular organisation where the…
Hi Suman, welcome to the Network.
Live and let live is a good way to get through life, too much of the time we wind ourselves up with what other people are 'doing' to us rather than choosing an attitude of peace and letting things…
Hey Alan, welcome to the Network.
Wow, it looks like you've had the full Fish treatment, I'm very envious - have only read the books and seen the film so far. Would love to hear of your experiences in implementing Fish and any stories you…
Some very wise and inspiring words there Thomas. When I've introduced Fish before in organisations I stress the point that it is for the most part common sense and things that we invariably do day-in-day-out without realising it - Fish just…
Hi Stuart
I have been preaching the Fish philosophy to my students for years, even though I only heard about this outlook not long ago. Work can be fun and play, while still being a serious matter. The wonderful thing about a new attitude is that…
Hey Thomas, welcome to the Network.
40 years of teaching eh? I'm sure you must have needed to 'choose your attitude' on quite a few occasions! Notice you've said you haven't read the Fish! book or seen any of the films,…
Hey Demetria, welcome to the Network.
Oh, and I see you're just two days younger than me too - another fellow Gemini =) Would love to hear your experience in implementing Fish in your organisation (if you have already), notice you've read…
Welcome to the Network Christie!
Looking forward to hearing your experiences with Fish in your own organisation and getting to know you a little better =)
Stu.
Hey Brian,
Have just seen your status update about getting started with Fish, how are you going about it? How well is it being received? In my experience you usually come up against some resistance (the words "It's like a playground in…
Hey Mary, welcome to the network!
I'm pretty new here myself and still finding my feet (something fish are sadly apt to never do...)
Would love to hear your experiences with Fish! particularly in the healthcare industry (I work for the NHS in…
Not been to Seattle yet but it's a goal of mine. I travel to Minnesota for training. I did the following at my old school. Had staff read the book around Xmas. Then I did something with them every month during 2nd semester. I had all of my activities online but when I changed jobs I took them off the site. I hope to have it back up sometime this fall. In year 2 I had staff groups do something related to Fish! each month and year three I had various organizations do something. Items included: Flying kites, Hawaiian Luau, dress your partner, dress up doors, tacky turkey and much more.
I created some of my own training on School Climate and spoke to some other schools and believe it or not a local bank.
Sounds like you have the right passion for Fish! I joined this group in hopes of finding new ideas. So feel free to share. When I get my stuff back on the web I'll let you know. By the way my email is beama@usd450.net My launching site to blogs and my sites can be found http://www.google.com/profiles/abeam1958
I have been preaching the Fish philosophy to my students for years, even though I only heard about this outlook not long ago. Work can be fun and play, while still being a serious matter. The wonderful thing about a new attitude is that you can adopt it as quickly as you snap your fingers, unlike a new skill, something that takes time to hone. Although it is only recently that I have started to teach English as a second language (to Arab and Chinese students), I have always been fascinated by languages because I grew up in Ireland with English and Gaelic. In school i also studied French and Latin. When I was 15 years old, I fell in love with the German language. My high school refused to allow me to join the German classes, saying I was already doing to many languages. I decided to teach myself German. The point I make constantly to my students is that the starting point for success is to fall in love with your undertaking. Love releases the energy that no obstacle can impede.
