The Lost Art of Leadership

Relationships – The lost art of LeadershipLet’s face it, we have all worked for, or currently work for, a company who at the top of their Mission, Vision and Values statement claim that, “We put people first”, or “Our people are our greatest asset.” I have no problem with organizations making this statement because, if you really think about it, it’s true. Without the people in the organization, there wouldn’t be an organization. The problem with this however, is that we don’t really think about…See More

Can FISH! really help when times are really tough?

Sam Writes:“Let's face it, some things are harder than others to overcome. Our business recently eliminated medical insurance coverage for all employees. It was that or lay off 1/4 of the workforce. Since the company needs the workers, they eliminated the benefit. We are trying to be positive about this. We still have our jobs after all. But when we go out and try to buy our own insurance, reality hits hard. We can't even begin to afford it. We finally…See More

Job or no Job...We still have work to do!

Recently I introduced a group of people, here in Minneapolis, to the FISH! Philosophy. Given what I do for a living (introduce people to the FISH! Philosophy) that may not seem "blog-worthy". I usually present the philosophy to people in workplaces be it schools, manufacturing companies, retail or restaurants. However this was a group of people that are looking for their next job. This was a presentation at he recent Job Summit for the Minnesota Recruiting and Staffing Association (MNRSA). I…See More

FISH! and the Flavor of the Month Club

Henry writes:“I am passionate about the FISH! Philosophy, but I am very leery that my company is implementing this as one of many management styles that they preach today and drop tomorrow.”Thanks for writing Henry! So, how DO you keep your FISH! effort out of the “Flavor-of-the-Month” club?First of all, this is a very common issue. In a lot of ways the training industry has shot itself in the foot here. Everybody says their program is all you need to “fix what ails’ ya”. Well, experience tells…See More

Hi Jay, We love the FiSH! Philosophy. The wins are rewarding on every level. FiSH! continues to change the world - one attitude at a time. Some of my favourite wins are with the schools we work with. I figure that if we get 'em while they're young then they will turn into better adults and society will only benefit more. Thanks for the comment. Suz

Jay,

Only from your comments over at FOHBOH.
Sounds intriguing, so thought I'd give it a try.
i'm really not into Myspace or facebook, so these business
social networks are awesome for me.

My background has been in travel. it's a good fit, as people have to eat when
they travel.

Keith
