I am going to help implement the FISH philosophy at a salon that offers the following services: hair, nails, facials and massages. The economy is tough in the area. We thought this philosophy would help motivate the staff. Does anyone have any ideas on what the salon could use for the fishes?

If you can't afford to buy Pete the Perch...Make them! Be creative with your ideas. Cut out the fish forms from a tag board/foamboard of sorts and allow the participants to decorate and glamorize them with nails, hair, makeup etc
They then understand how their efforts and contribution makes a difference to the entire experience and to your salon.It creates fun, creativity and individualality. You can make it a theme for the entire salon, and the clients that use your services. Your clients will ask your staff what it's all about and they can have a 30 second elevator speech as to "how they show up for work affects their work". They can also explain while they are being present for their client, how you have created a community within your four walls that supports EVERYONE who walks in the door.That's FISH! but glamorized!
