I have been trying the implement FISH philosophy in my organization. Would appreciate if you can share any tactics you followed when implementing FISH in your organizations.
Up to now I have created a implementation plan and got it approved by the management team. However, my worry is as how to get the team excited about FISH?
Even though the management approved the FISH budget I feel that they are not fully committed to FISH. How can I get them to believe in FISH?
I have arranged for a FISH campaign launch ceremony for December. Is a ceremony a good way of implementing FISH?
The management commitment is essential in making your program successful. Staff will immediately “pick-up” that management are not 100% committed. This issue needs to be addressed prior to a roll-out. I would suggest that you work with the management team some more.
Not sure is excitement or rather commitment to the program is required at this time (I think that there may be a difference). Talk t the management team to ensure that they believe in the program – like I said, their commitment to the program is vital because if there will be problems if they are asked to roll out a program they do not believe in.
Not sure how many people are in your management team but invest the time now with them. Find out what their issues are to the program – maybe they have questions, maybe they don’t understand the advantages, who knows……. But you need to find out.
After you have their commitment – you will need to develop a plan – sounds like you have this done already, this is great!
I remember when I rolled out FISH in 2001 that I spent time speaking to my management team (which consisted of five Supervisors) to gain their support. Then we sat down with our staff in groups of 6 – 9, watched the program, and had a conversation about how they understood the FISH philosophy. I developed questions and comments about how I saw the FISH program impacting the workplace. We had a conversation and then staff started to take the program on.
HI Chamika
WHY not go back to the first book and re read that, it has good ideas.
In terms of management perhaps point them in the direction of the many success stories of companies schools, churches and universities already enjoying the benefits of FISH! Perhaps have someone from one of these companies come along and share their experiences.
