For our first FISH! meeting we really went all out --- it was early in the morning so we provided breakfast and snacks, had colorful pens, colorful post it notes, and glow in the dark plastic bracelets and hawaiian leis they could take with them we they left. We decorated the room and made sure FISH! was represented. In the weeks leading up to the initial event --- we teased them with posters, and signs and left Pete the Perch all over the building with signs asking them to ask their managers about FISH!

Kristen,
I would ask your team members what they want to do. I think that when you "playstorm" and give yourselves 5 minutes of dig down time and focus, you create ideas together. It's amazing what ideas are created. It's not so much the games as it is the mindset you all show up with each and everyday. If creating the activities displays what it is that you want to be recognized for...then you are creating YOUR OWN FISH! Culture, within. Just turn it around and ask the people you work with what it should all look like. Keep in mind that it is your attitude and how you choose to be there for everyone that will keep heads turning. When you create ways to make people's day, then perhaps you will be valued as the people who go and make everyone's day and lead by example. Other departments will take notice and follow your lead or at least appreciate your efforts. Showing up wholeheartedly everyday will be contagious and your "play" will shine through. Have fun!

One thing we like to do is a Fun Friday lunch. Each week different members of each department are scheduled to have a Fun Friday lunch. The attending members are given an extra half hour of lunch time paid by the company. We bring in different types of food (pizza, sandwhiches, etc.) for lunch. We then break the members into teams of 3 or 4 and play a board game. My favorites are Pictionary and Guesstures. This gets the energy up and promotes getting to know others in the office.

Also we play:
Getting to Know You - Employees tell me one unlikely story about them and the office tries to guess who the person is.
Unsolved Mysteries The Baby Edition - Employees bring in baby pictures and the office tries to guess.
Fish Olympics - Lots of fun - This was incredible!
Memorial Day BBQ - (My favorite of the year!) Everyone receives an extra half hour for lunch paid and all office members bring in food items to cook on the grill. All food is cooked by the management team. We also have games like a dunk tank in which management gets in and the employees can dunk their manager.
