Hiya! I'm the Zoo Keeper :) at ChartHouse Learning in Burnsville MN...the home of the FISH! Philosophy. I love using my "fun" title, which we all have printed first on our business cards. Yes, PLAY is my favorite practice in case you hadn't figured that yet. See if you can guess what exactly a Zoo Keeper might do in a business office environment :).

I'm here because I believe in the FISH! Philosophy whole heartedly. It's a way of life for me!! This is yet another great venue to connect, touch, & inspire more people in the world.

Jump on...introduce yourself...let's chat :)

Good Day, All!

I am the corporate Training Manager for a vacation ownership company based in Southern California (The O.C.) Having been in the hospitality industry for almost half my life, customer service and satisfaction (both internal and external) is truly my passion. I have been facilitating FISH! classes now for almost 18 months at our various resorts and corporate offices with much success. I believe in the FISH! program and look forward to meeting others who share this same passion and discover new ways of bringing FISH! into my organization.

Hi, I'm Sandy K. Managed Healthcare org. 250 employees. Everyone sees the DVD during orientation.
I have sayings from the Facilitator's manual typed on labels and put on cut outs of fish shapes.
It's difficult to be invited to meetings and keep my own schedule as well. We have got the PLAY concept down well, but how do we get more people to embrace the principles and want to keep "doing" FISH!?

Just saw this post and couldn't help but reply. It really isn't about "doing"...it is about "BEING". How could you not want to enjoy what you choose to do 65-70% of your waking hours? It's a gift. By looking at your work, through the lens of FISH!, you will gain a common language and applaud one another and the efforts you set forth. You crate your own culture through conversations and contribution. You should really look at FISH! Culture under our products page. Last week our HR sent an email out to remind us to thank each other more often. Well of course we took it to the nth degreee and were all over the board with it. We weren't making a joke of the reminder we were having fun recognizing each other for everything. We finally settled down the next day but truly started looking at each other with more appreciation. Reminders of how we want to show up have to be a constant. A FISH! committee with a couple of energy captains work well with keeping FISH! alive. People want to feel good...they need to feel they are appreciated and needed...they think it is an effort when in reality it is the effort made first, then all shall fall into place. What do you think? You can give me a call if you would like ideas. 800.811.5216

Hey everyone I am new here, and a social network junkie. I was given the Fish book as a gift by my principal to read over the summer. Our school had a lot of tension with the new principal taking over. We had divided factions and I often was drawn or willfully joined the controversy. Often my participation would worsen the situation instead of improve. I guess I was a "Pot Stirrer". After reading the book I have decided to help bring together divided staff members. I am trying to hear both side of a discussion before making a decision. I am also a true believer that most problems are caused by misscommunication. I am trying to clear communication between people so that problems, issues and solutions can be found. Thanks for your time.

Blurp blurp to all...
I just swam in here minutes ago. Well basically, I'm a consulting hypnotist and do volunteer work during my free time. It was then that I actually attended the Fish Philosophy Training and am very impressed.
It may not be that new for me in terms of adopting the 'play'. I belief in what Confucius say.. Choose the job you love and you don't have to work for the rest of your life.

As for now, I'm more involved in training staffs in a restaurant setting. Life can be stressful for some of these people which constantly requires motivation. I've adopted the basics of Fish Philosophy that I've learned and been quite successful. Was hoping I can learn more by exchanging ideas.

Do they have Trainer or Facilitator program in Singapore or Asia Pacific Region?
Have a great day swimming....

Swimming with Passion...

Hi! My name is Angela Rowe. I found out about Fish! because my school sent me one of their books. I couldn't be happier that they did that. Now, all I need to do is talk my boss into allowing me to introduce this philosophy to my co-workers!

I work for a non-profit organization that is similar to a career center. We help people with their resume, interview skills, and pretty much anything they need to get back into the workforce.

Any ideas on how to approach my boss about this?

Hi Angela,

One idea on how to approach your boss would be to lend them your FISH! book that inspired you. Share what you learned and what you like about The FISH! Philosophy.

Maybe talk about how you go about your work day - with the FISH! practices in mind - by giving examples. Perhaps you Be There for people who come into your workplace by truly listening to what skills and talents they bring to the table so you can better place them into a career that would be satisfying to them. Maybe you Make Their Day by giving encouragement to someone who has gone on multiple job interviews but has yet to be hired.

Hope this helps Angela. Best of luck, and keep us posted!

HI
I am a school teacher and am about to start at a new school next week.
I discovered Fish! when searching for pearls in my local bookstore. I quickly realised it was something I could use in my workplace(school) The job I had at the time meant that I was responsible for the smooth running of the primary school. I was given the task of unifying the school which up until that time had been two subschools. FISH was introduced for staff and became a unifying thread over a period of time. I left that school in 2005 however I do know some staff that are still there continue to refer to FISH!
I decided to join the network as I am going back to fulltime teaching and really want to develop a FISH! class. I am also interested in sharing ideas and gaining new ideas from others.
