The FISH! Philosophy Network

I am starting a new position as K-12 Guidance Counselor next year. I work in a small rural Manioba school. (230 students, K-12)

Last year, I introduced the Virtues Project to grades K-7. Next year I'll be enhancing this character education program with the FISH! Philosophy.

I have the Schools of FISH! book and have ordered the grades 9-12 curriculum. (I'll also be teaching senior years for the first time...Career Development.

I would love to attend a training workshop someday but right now funds are limited. I want to start to implement FISH! and would appreciate feedback from others regarding ideas about how to start, school wide. I have support from the principal and Resource teacher and will introduce FISH! to the staff early next fall.

As I plan this summer, I would love to hear others' ideas and suggestions. There is nothing like the voice(s) of experience!

Thank you.......and have a great summer! (We just finished yesterday).

Take care,

Lorilee

Hi Lorilee
I introduced FISH! to my staff through staff meetings, activities for staff to complete. One idea that was particularly fun was a find the staff meeting treasure hunt. I prepared envelopes that were place around the school and staff working together had to follow the clues to find the staff meeting. Staff arrived laughing and happy and it was a great way to talk about the topic of play and what that can look like. Different staff asked to borrow the books and got more involved from their own search of FISH! I left the school in JUly 2005 and it pleasing to know that staff who were their at that time have continued using FISH and sharing FISH with others.

Good evening,
I hope you managed to use Fish in your school. How was it? How did you manage to implementing it?
Just wondering as I came across your messege here, though its dated June 2008, so I just assumed that you already use Fish.

Thank you and best of luck.
Hanan
