The FISH! Philosophy Network

I work for a bank and my director is so on board with the FISH! Philosophy. My plan is to launch it to our branch managers first at our monthly branch manager meeting and then I will go branch to branch to meet with managers staff and present it to them next. My question is--I would like to come up with some sort of preview/teaser (fun email hints, etc.) to peak their interest prior to our meeting and get them excited. Does anyone have any feedback or suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm too new to FISH! and it's implementation to give you any suggestions. I'd love to know how things are going with your plan. Have you launched FISH! yet? How did it go?
Probably too late to help, but when I introduced the concept to my team, I started by buying everyone a very small and inexpensive soft toy fish. I then printed out a strip of paper (about the size of a fortune in a fortune cookie) that said "Something fishy is going on..." with the date of the intended session. I left each team member a fish on their desks after they'd gone home, about a week before the session. Next day they kept asking what it was about, but I jsut smiled and said they'd soon get details.

The day before the session, I printed out a letter-size sheet with fish puns written in different fonts and colours. They were things like "Do they really expect us to take the bait?", "It's sole long to be away from my desk!" and "Do you think it'll mackerel difference?" (I love bad puns, by the way. Highest form of humour...)

People loved that approach and were definitely 'hooked' by the time the session rolled around. It was very successful!

Liz--I really like this idea. I'm not launching yet--there are other things that I need to get a handle on first (I'm hiring like mad). After the staffing crunch is over--I'm going to try something like this. I'm an administrator and I'm thinking of rolling this out the head teachers first and then the whole child care center later. Your thoughts?

Hey Liz,
Just wanted to know how would u launch FISH! for a team of product trainers and Quality Analysts. I do have some ideas like creating the hype with placing paper strips and sending a mail wich says" There is something FISHY...". What iam looking at is to use the video for team building and working a a unit towards one common goal. plz help.

Our workplace (department) has been using FISH for several years. Some things I have learned - 1. Your management team must believe in the concept prior to implementation. Without their support and belief, your staff will probably not embrace.

I held small meeting with staff after getting support from my Supervisors. The video was shown and a conversation took place on why we would consider the idea of FISH. Staff were involved and engaged and this took time.

Once they were on board and supportive, they were encouraged to make it their own. It has proven very successful and I am now trying to roll the program out to the rest of my organization.

I am also working on research to see if there is any tangible evidence that the program makes a difference with attendance and maybe retention of staff.
